    Possible tumulus

    Low Farm, Clayton-le-Dale, Salesbury Tumulus SD 672 332

    Slight mound on elivated position (hence 'Low')

    Quarter mile east of Roman road from Blackburn to Ribchester

    Place-name 'Salesbury' ?

    In the 13th century, Sawley Abbey held a plot of land here with iron-mining rights associated with it. They also held iron-mining rights to lands in Samlesbury at that time.
