Not sure what's gone off there, but Mick might be over-reacting. I was half-expecting some big-titted yank halfwit on the show - but I see this lass, Mary-Ann Ochota, has background in archaeology and specialises mainly in anthropology. Any archaeology without an anthropological analysis/perspective is worthless, leaving only depersonalised numbered fragments, decontextualized from their socioreligious & human background. As long as the lass doesn't overdo the modern pop-primitive culture approach, it should be OK and should - if done correctly - give additional important dimensions to the Time Team finds.

And if the girl ever fancies an anthropological frolic to the sites on and around Ilkley Moor, she can certainly get me up there with her! Wink

Hi Paul, Myself I think the Channel 4 / Time Team producers are trying to attract more fellas to watch the show - knowing full well that an ex model will do the trick. It might do until all the excitement wears off. I bet Phil Harding (Mick's) long-time friend will give her a hard time - woebetide her if she says anything to upset Phil. He'll let her know pretty damn quick. I can't understand why they want to change the way the programme is already set up. Even Stewart Ainsworth and that Geek women will only appear occasionaly; don't know about Francis Prior (he of Flag Fen fame). Why don't they have Francis taking her place instead, because he dosen't usually get much of a look in ? Anyhow, we'll send this Ochota woman up onto the moors with the TNA team - supervised by Micki off course ! affraid

Breaking News - Looks like Ms Ochota has now decided to quit Time Team when the current series ends. So Mick come back, please. Very Happy

Up-date on the Mick Aston story. Here's what the series producer Tim Taylor has to say http://www.scribd.com/tim_darch/d/80914164-Tim-Taylor-Statement-regarding-Mick-Aston
