I was reading a friends Blog [Pieman's] and this passage took my eye :-
And the place for a shelter will be the abandoned and ruined sixteenth century farmstead of West Loups’s
This is plonked squarely , or at least, roundly within the banks of a previous, mediaeval farmstead. And all around, to be hunted amongst the rank grasses , are several boulders sporting cup and ring markings.
I looked it up on the map and it's 5 miles (Crow flies) West of Barnard Castle in Teesdale
I've filed it, in my "to visit" folder for a summer day expedition, in the mean time I'll see if I can find any more information
starting of course with Uncle(come and sit on my knee)Paul
and who could fail to not go and have a look at the Chalybeate Spring called "Burble Well" 1.37 miles North East
I marked it on the map with a red arrow. I'll give a shout out on here if I get an expedition together.
cheers all Danny
