Paul Hornby, Michala Douglas and I went out for a wander today (arranged at last minute) and wotta day it's turned out to be! We did one of our usual haunts on Rombald's Moor (that's the Ilkley Moor area to those who don't know) and came across a fascinating cluster of previously undiscovered cup-and-ring stones - eight in total - in a very small tight area. Three of them had simple cup-marks on them, but others had additional features such as lines and arcs. Two had decent cup-and-rings, with the one attached below being a really nice one! It's got at least 30 cups on it, three with rings and a couple with possible arcs; plus one truly fascinating section of a long carved line linking 2-3 cups, stretching two-third the length of the stone. Please note that we covered the stone back over once we'd got our images.
The photos would have been better if it hadn't been cloudy all day. We're gonna go back up soon & get some better images, draw them, and check for other carvings - which very probably exist nearby.
