By chance visited the church at Singleton in Lancs, near to Poulton and Kirkham.
Immediately spotted this in the churchyard.

Looks like a medieval cross-base, there are many like this in Lancashire, good examples being at Stydd Chapel, Ribchester, and on Downham Common, close to Pendle Hill. There will be others somewhere on TNA forum. Ray.

Very interesting find. Just had a quick look in Taylor's giant Crosses of Lancashire, and he makes no mention of it. It'd be good to find more info on the site, which does look like some medieval cross-base. Any chance we could stick a profile of it on TNA itself, and ask for further info?

    Cheers - Paul
