    Recent I'm afraid.

    For some years now the carving of spirals on ancient monuments/stones has been a common occurrence.

    Gotta go along with John here. It's definitely a modern carving. Nice though!

    Yup, it's modern.
    Probably done at the summer solstice when quite a few people camp there.
