Today I was walking around Sabden Fold - the origanal Goldshaw Booth before the church was built at Newchurch c.1500 - and in a field below the Fold I found a round grain grinding quern (2ft. dia.) being used as a water stoop for sheep. I had no camera, so will get pic's another day.

Exact position restricted - poeple remove this type of stones!

Email me if you want exact SD Paul - but keep it to yourself - John

I should say mortar & not quern stone - though both do the same job.
