An excellent day out John! Many thanks for showing us round the sites - very much appreciated. Cool That there Bleasdale site tells us quite distinctly that there's other sites missing or destroyed not too far away. We truly need to scan the region effectively in the hope summat crops us.

Nice meeting up with Rod aswell. Smile Hopefully see you on a few other outings mate! We're meeting at Ilkley bus/train station this coming Tuesday, 5 July at midday (NOT Monday, as we said earlier - blame Mikki!) if y' fancy coming along - then onto the moors to see some rock art and check over some unscheduled prehistoric settlement.

...I think Teddy's coming along again, bringing his mate Danny (if Dan can make it). Not sure whether the chips and wine van is gonna be there again - but I'm sure he'll surprise us with other eccentricities. Some very good images again Danny! And cheers for the Datura!

Thanks to Dave for gerrin us over there - and hope you were alreet when y' got back mate. See you out on the hills in a week or 2!

All the best - Paul Smile

Glorious day. Feeling fairly chipper thanks to Dan. I wouldn't mind going there again, if the Duchy of Lancaster, can do a deal with Stannah Stairlifts. Cool

Hi Ray if you read the title of the photo it said "Teddy plays with Ectoplasm"
TNA Bleasdale Circle + Fairy Holes IMG_9005
and the definition of Ectoplasm is :-
Ectoplasm - A strange, mystical material that flows out of any orifice and opening of a mediums body during a seance. This paranormal substance would sometimes take the shapes of faces, limbs, or even an entire figure but could not materialize until it had come out of the body of the medium. The typical color of ectoplasm is a creamy off-white. Quite often this substance was warm and life like but has also been known to be cold. This paranormal material could be doughy, sticky, airy, smoky, or thick and syrupy. This ghostly substance was also known to smell like ozone. Ectoplasm often seemed to form around believers of the paranormal and open minded, and not so much in the presence of the skeptical. Ectoplasm would form most of the time in the dark or in dim lighting. In bright light it would vanish completely or snap back violently.
    from http://www.studiesoftheparanormal.com/ectoplasm.html
So in the "spirit" (pun intended) of the title Teddy made it !
You're begining to sound like a Methodist. Isaiah 5:11 ‘Ah, you who rise early in the morning in pursuit of strong drink, who linger in the evening to be inflamed by wine. .
When Teddy read about the evils of drinking, He gave up reading! Reality is a crutch for people who can’t handle drugs !
    cheers Danny and Teddy

Teddy stopped at the Edisford Arms at Clitheroe on the way back and had a couple of pints of Jennings Cumberland Bitter !

Greetings Stoners, excellent day out and good to meet you all, thanks to John and Paul for arranging it. Sorry I missed the pint on the way home!'Evil or Very Mad'
I watched the Windy Pits prog on the same night (what a load of rubbish)where there was a shot of the interior of an iron age roundhouse showing supporting timbers of the same diameter as the post holes at Bleasdale, is that what we were seeing there?

Ta for that Danny! My 10-fig ref's very close to yours - but we'll just have to be inaccurate this time & give it an 8-figure. Dreadful of us! Now lemme get that bloody fly-swatter! Razz

PS - Scotch pancakes on Tuesday sound spot-on! Smile

The first idea that struck me when I arrived at the circle, was 'round house'. So I think rod could be onto something. Possibly, palisaded later on as those things were. I think only one of us went to the pub on the way home rod.
