Just thought I'd say hello to everyone here on TNA. I have been on another similar website, but this seems very, very good. I'm interested in what everyone else on here is interested in. I am starting to find my way around the site but it will take me a little while to get sorted out. I look forward to being on this very nice website and contributing in some way, whether that be comments or sites etc.

Re: Hello from Sunbright57
Hi there!
I see you're only over the other side of the hills from where we are. We're gonna be doing a zigzagging amble across some of the moors not far from you in a few weeks time; and wouldn't mind spending a day or 2 around Ringstone Hill. It's years since I've been up there.
Anyway, nice to have you on board and look forward to meeting up in the not-too-distant future.
All the best - Paul

No, not quite Ringstone. A few miles further north. Just below Oakworth, a coupla miles outta Keighley - near that gorgeous road which takes you over Stanbury and down Wycoller-way.

Yes Mikkix I have always lived in Nelson, almost born and bred here, though born on the Nelson/Colne boundary to be precise. People on here seem ok. I already knew John Dixon from the other website, but I hope to get to know everybody else at some point. Ray.

Poor you!! Did you go to that awesome school called Primet?
My Nan (bless her), lives in Nelson still. She used to live right at the bottom of Edward street, until she moved to a street just off Scotland Road. She bought a bargin there at the time. She liked the name Scotland road as she is Scottish, and the house no. is 13.
The people that I have met through this forum are great individuals.Sunbright57 wrote:People on here seem ok.

Re Primet
Yes Mikki I do know Primet, I went there for just one year until I became ill and had to go to a special school over in Rochdale. I hated it, but I like the town itself. I'm afraid Nelson is in a bad way now what with all the closed down shops and empty terraced houses. I used to be a nice place to live. I got a bit disallusioned with the other site I was on - you know the one don't you - The Meg Portal. Some of the members were not very nice to me, always pulling my site pages to bits. But others were very nice people - a bit 50/50 I would say. Take care now, bye, Ray.

I confess! I went there for a year too. My parents ran a shop on the corner of Leeds Road/St. Patricks road (tis closed down now, but was a Grocery Shop about 25 years ago). They moved to Earby, So I ended up going to Barlick Modern as we called it then.

We went through Nelson a couple of months ago, on our way to Burnley & I was shocked to see how derelict the town looked. Especially the main road through the town. Seems that the locals don't have or have lost respect for the place and left it to go to rag & ruin.

Oh, The MegPortal, I thought that you meant that t'other one.

We have had a couple of members on here too that haven't been nice either. The are given a chance but don't tend to hang around that long.

Re Book
Mikki, yes I did Indeed write that book. It was published in 1991 by Llanerch Publications in Wales. There is a member on the Meg Portal called Anonymous, is it the same person thats on TNA or it is someone else. I am quite interested in holy wells connected to saints, but I also like inscribed stones and Celtic crosses. Ray.

Ha-ha. Your famous, we have got your book here.

I think a while back that on Meg Portal, you could leave messages without signing in (except on the forum), hence the Anonymous comments.
I don't think we have a member called Anonymous here!? there might be somebody hiding somewhere.

Re: Hello from Sunbright57
Thanks Mikki, I think a lot of people have got a copy of my book somewhere - upto 4,000 of them. I must say that Andy B on the Meg Portal has always been fair to me, just some of the others that haven't. There might be other Anonymous' about, as you say, in hiding somewhere. Thanks Mikki, take care now. Ray

Re: Hello from Sunbright57
Hi Ray!
That's a good book mate! I bought it about 10yr back & it sits amidst the 2 shelves of "Holy Wells" section in mi library. The folklore of saints is a much overlooked arena when it comes to studying our ancient past. Now you've said you're into such things, it's time for a few questions!

Re Re Hello
Mikki, there's nothing wrong in collecting stockings, high heels and handbags - whatever takes your fancy I say. I myself have collected a lot of stuff in my life, though not handbags and gladrags, yet ! Ray.
