    Hello,
    I'm a keen walker and photographer, interested in rocks. I enjoy visiting stone circles and have a Flickr page with many pictures of the Hurlers in Cornwall. You might like;

    I work for a Local Authority but am almost pensionable and bus passable. I live near the Yorkshire Dales and know the area well.

    Hi Roger!

    Good to hear another local has joined the fray!

    It's a good-looking place down there. I've only been down Cornwall a few times & never got to the Hurlers, but would love to check it out sometime.

    D' y' know owt about a 'Camp' shown on one of the old field-name lists, in Calverley? (and I don't mean a gay gathering! Laughing ) Or the whereabouts of the Hippins Stone in Calverley? There's a small standing stone of the same name on the tops above Hebden Bridge, but I could never find the site of the same name round your area. There's a few crosses and wells I couldn't find either - but we'll talk about them later.

    All the best - Paul Cool

    I've tramped caverley wood with a GPS and not found anything where it was supposed to be. I did find a cup stone in the stream and will go back and take a picture of it and get a grid reference.

    Roger

    Would it be the one about 5 yards from the streamside, near the New Line end of the woods, with a large ring and (I think) 2 inner cups? Someone carved that in the '60s or '70s and I aint been back to see it for some years. It could look quite good nowadays, with more weathering.

    Cheers - Paul
