Hi all, just to say thanks for an inspiring forum!  I was brought up in Ilkley and lived closed to the moors, often taking the dog for a walk over to the Swastika stones.  I've lived in Addingham for the last 20 years.  I've only recently appreciated what fantastic archaeology we have so close to home!  jamesmhe and myself went for a walk last weekend to Burley Moor (which despite living so close I have never explored before), and was amazed at prehistoric sites on the moor.  Ilkley is often associated with Roman Britain but it seems that perhaps it should equally be know for its earlier history.  So I'm just starting out exploring these sites - there's enough within a few miles to keep me busy for quite a while!

    Hi Danny

I think I know exactly where the Millstones are, and I actually think I have probably walked very close to them without realising!

I presume dating stones like this isn't easy; any idea of roughly when these were made?
