after reading Pauls update http://megalithix.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/rudstoop-monolith/
I thought I'd go and take some photo's, for him
. First the car parking at the reservoir has been closed for the year along with the footpaths around and no parking on all aproach roads due to building work at the res. so I parked at the V in the track.

It didn't look good spotting a dumped stone with bucket marks on it just through the "locked" gate

flat base ?

I climbed over the gate

to be met with a pile of rubble and fresh gauged boulders

It wasn't looking good but I followed the GPS to find :- at 1 SD 99268 23655

there were boulders showing in the grass all the way down the field

with an interesting group at 2 SD 99273 23593

and a "snaped" stone laying in the field on the way back to the gate red arrow points to break

and looking over it back down to the Rudstoop

Allthough I had the full dinner kit with me coffee, wine, butties the whole area felt depressed and I was glad to leave and stop by a stream on the way back home ! Paul feel free to use any of the photo's
cheers all Danny
