    after reading Pauls update http://megalithix.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/rudstoop-monolith/
I thought I'd go and take some photo's, for him Wink . First the car parking at the reservoir has been closed for the year along with the footpaths around and no parking on all aproach roads due to building work at the res. so I parked at the V in the track.

Naathen lads - don't start falling out, or we'll send Mad Bob round! scared

...But I like the images Danny - and good to see the big fella's still lying there in the field. If I knew you were going, I'd have pointed to the other potentials here. When I lived in Hebden Bridge, a few visits up here got me talking with Mr Local Farmer - an old dood who could talk for England, and who knew all sorts of old tales. It was he who pointed me to this very spot for the stone, "but it got knocked daan few year back," he said. "Used to be a few in a sorta line running to t'farm," he said, heading east-west. "They've all been knocked ovver though."

And on GoogleEarth it shows what may be some of 'em along the line he told us about.

thanks Ruffinogold, I'll send your fee in small used notes !
just go's to show how easily un-recorded (other than amature) history is lost
and yet for the effort involved and the meaning in building thousands of years ago ?
No one gives a shit now !
