We are Tony and Louise from Wigan and are new to the site and visited the Stone Circle at Castlerigg for the Summer Solstace.We didnt know what to expect but came away 3 days later realising what our ancestors made these circles for...if nothing else they must have felt on top of their world as the sun rose at a place like Castlerigg...they were masters of all they could see in this magnificent setting.

Hope you have a good time up Castlerigg on your next visit. It's a superb place - arguably the best megalithic ring in Britain. We're talking about having a TNA venture up there in a few weeks with a group of us, then heading Swinside-way and checking out some of the others in-between, depending on time & daylight hours. We need to get more of the Cumbrian sites on TNA itself, so a few visits are definitely needed!
