Hedgey greetings to al't northern lads and lasses,

I'm a hedge druid called Gwas Myrddyn (aka Vapour Trail - one of my many aliases) and I have been interested in megalithic monuments for many years now. I visit about 50 sites a year, and write about my experiences - practical and esoteric - on my blog The Hedge Druid.

Glad to be in the company of some northern folk because we have a wealth of ancient sites up our end, and we should do everything we can to preserve and promote them.

My favourite sites up north are:-
    1. Nine Ladies on Stanton Moor in Derbyshire
    2. Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall in North Wales (Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall)
    3. The Druid's Circle above Penmaenmawr near Conwy, North Wales.

Always travelling, always learning. Hope to speak to you all on the forum some time. Hope to meet some of you at the Mysterious Earth Conference soon, if you're there.

    Vapour Trail.

Hi Gwas (or do your prefer VT?) -

Nice to have you with us! Smile Our man Dave has a bittova druid fetish!

I see from your website that you've got St. Helen's Well at Eshton listed as one of your favourite sites. We had a quick visit to the place yesterday: nice & quiet, sitting with the waters for a while. One TNA member has found there were actually two St. Helen's Wells at Eshton, accoring to early 19th century records - and we had alook at the pair of them. I'll add the profiles, references, images to The Northern Antiquarian in the next coupla days.

    All the best - Paul

Hello Gwas, I love all Welsh sites, particularly the holy wells and crosses, oh and Celtic saints, so we should be able to share stuff. Any how welcome to the TNA. I've never met a druid. Ray.

    Thanks for the welcome, gentlemen.

Call me Gwas, if you like - it's more personal than VT.

Paul - my friend Kal and I found that there were two St Helens Wells also. We didn't visit the "official" one because it seemed too..well, it was in such a sorry state according the pictures we'd seen. We felt that the "new" well, which was more of a spring really, was more vibrant.

I haven't looked around this site yet, but I have some pictures I can add to any site listing, and over the next few weeks I'll start doing that.

Ray - you've never met a druid? I bet you have, but you didn't know! There are more of us around than you might think ;-) There's probably one behind you right now!! Ha ha - nice to meet you, folks.

    Gwas.

Gwas, I might have met a druid at Ffynnon Ishow - St Issui's Holy Well in the Black Mountains. We got talking and he was looking for energy lines running through the churchyard. He was using two thin wire things, one in each hand, which kept moving inwards and outwards. Afterwards, I thought I bet that blokes a druid. But, maybe wrong. Ray.

    Hello Gwas.
Nice to see someone of a druidic flavour involved. I've seen your trail on a few druid sites, and visited your page a few times.
I suppose I'm hedge or feral; whatever. Though I've joined a few things online for learning purposes. A lot of the stuff neo druid organizations involve themselves in; interfaith palaver etc, are definitely not for me. And many of the courses in druidry are predominantly courses about anything but, unless your idea of eclecticism is all encompassing. Not only that, some are a raging rip off, that anyone who can write an essay, could knock together themselves without too much effort. There's one born every minute, but it needn't always be me.
One thing I am convinced of, is that the Shamans of old on these islands, had insights and secrets that seem to be lost. The patterns and placements of the old stones may have much to reveal in that regard. So looking forward to reading your posts.
