This was taken from rock art whats it all about, thread on the TMA
    Me
"Tiompan heres a clue in the words of another "much wider corpus of signs that expressed the cosmological and spiritual beliefs of the Neolithic age.
Now consider a pre-egoic culture without the consideration of a cosmo-spiritual dichotomy between landscape and self.......where would that lead us?

    Juamie
"Given we know nothing of the cosmological and spiritual beliefs of the rock art makers, any map(ping) from the images carved into the rocks to something linked to those beliefs is unlikely to be spottable in this "egoic" culture. No matter how much explorers of the esoteric would have us believe of their amazing transformations of self, they are still based in modern culture and will always be fundamentally based in modern culture with its social and reflected physiological rules."

"Asking questions like that is nought but smoke and mirrors..."

This is the geezer who claimed to have hacked this website.......seems like a nice guy!
Well I think we can all see the arrogance seething through this post. He has completely got the wrong end of the stick as well!
I think maybe (probably....err definitely)he has failed to grasp the concept of pre-egoic and the possibility for non-dual states of consciousness.
In his ignorance he has presumed that this necessitates a esoteric belief structure, to him it probably does! (which just goes to show how little he understands)
I have to admit that this bit made me laugh......quite a lot "will always be fundamentally based in modern culture with its social and reflected physiological rules."
    Brilliant, pure gold!
Smoke and mirrors....too right Juamie. The pretension to some idea of a baseline that all can be reduced to is the first and last refuge of the stupid! The smoke is the illusions you cling to and the mirror is the reflected diatribe we have to endure!

Agree. Pure bullshit well spread by cosmo-goboloons

I for one would not get involved with such paygoon types and their foolish forums.

Much better to get involved with seeking out sites and placing them in some context or other to gain a fuller understanding of our island's ancient past.

Screw 'em & give them a wide berth is my opinion

Hmmmmm....I don't tend to read the TMA Forums anymore, but the stuff you've quoted here needs a little bit of attention as there's some sheer uneducated drivel therein. I'm busy at the mo, so will turn to it tomorrow (he sez hopefully drunken ).

Er... I think such a condition would indicate the absence of an hypothalamus, or any other mechanisim of a functional forebrain.
I am aware of nothing in the way of biological or other evidence, that suggests that Neolithic man was so disadvantaged.
Such consideration would therefore be a pale abstraction, of little or no value.

    In other words... bollocks.

    Hello erratic,
as short (and un-succinct) as this....was it an attempt at humour?....or was it an attempt at refutation?
How do you a see link between ego and hypothalamus (please cite research unless you are going to attempt a reasonable argument)
Again I would be interested in hearing why and how you think a functional fore brain negates the possibility of functioning within a non-egoic state (again evidence and reasonable argument will be required)
As it is you that presupposes (very simplistically) that it would require some biological marker it is to you I look for biological evidence to the contrary (I will give you a big clue .......no need to go searching for difference on a biological level)
In short erratic your attempt at (humour, argument? is so ridiculous it is commonly known as bollocks!

There's tons of info relating to neolithic/Bronze Age folk in the UK having extensive ritual/ceremonial fascination with death, in tombs where many CRs occur. A cosmological religious ideology relating the 2 would seem a simplistic relationship to make, assuming one studies the subject. (Burl's Rites of the Gods might be worth checking out as a good intro on such matters) There are internationally renowned animistic ideologies in every early culture, where stones, trees, clouds, water & all natural phenomena have correlates in the 'spiritual' worlds. Although we obviously don't have firsthand info relating to such things in the UK, folklore remnants shows clearly that these international animistic traits also occurred here. A couple of good non-UK studies worth looking at to widen one's perspectives would be Bob Layton's Australian Rock Art (1992) and Vastokas' Sacred Art of the Algonkians. (1973) There are plenty of others...

Juamei wrote:...any map(ping) from the images carved into the rocks to something linked to those beliefs is unlikely to be spottable in this "egoic" culture.

If one presupposes unconscious material to be inaccessible to the ego, we could say this is correct - but this simply aint true. Non-egoic states such as dreams, reverie, Alchera, genius, etc, are all retrievable by ego, despite them all being non-egoic. There's a confusion occurring here (it's common), where such psychocosms are mistakenly believed to be something long-gone, evolved past, or inaccessible. This tends to derive from the misguided profanity that we've evolved beyond and above such early primitive psychological spheres; when in fact such psychological domains are very accessible indeed. Unless you're a dumfuck that is! Very Happy

Juamei wrote:...No matter how much explorers of the esoteric would have us believe of their amazing transformations of self, they are still based in modern culture and will always be fundamentally based in modern culture with its social and reflected physiological rules."

Quite wot this has to do with rock-art analysis is beyond me. It's a glib, uninformed piece o' sociogenic diatribe, whose shallowness exemplifies the post as a whole - i.e., it's bullshit! It would seem that a few necessary texts of Eliade, Levi-Strauss, Ray, Jung, etc, need reading before this lad moves forward in his educational development. But I wouldn't hold y' breath! No

    Next please! Cool

I will not address the rather pointless and pseudo-mystical clap-trap the Chuckle Brothers and Revnox post. I will however point out the fact that it is rather easy to take any comment out of context and pull it apart.

What is the difference between this and bullying? Especially if the victim has no right of reply? I have known Juamei for some time now and let me attest to his good nature and love of megaliths. That you denigrate such a man is appalling and highlights your petty and vindictive natures.

I think I can speak for myself and Juamei when I say we have a very special relationship. In fact I have met him and his wife on numerous occasions. I would do almost anything for Juamei (although I would not take his wife out for dinner, I could not afford such quantities of food, cooked or uncooked) and I know for sure he would do anything, anything for me.

If you are truly interested in the sites and stones why not concentrate on such matters, instead of playing out your poisonous grudges?

    Greetings and salutations,
Well I never.....one turns ones back for two minutes....and little-bone and his latest special friend are at it again!
I have to congratulate mr erratic on the rather humorous link.
I will have to nip into the old TMA and have a little shufti. I take it the rather rotund ill-educated harridan Jane (with the emasculated Moth),Go-thick the portly bald headed imbecile, Littlebone the venomous whale eating fetishistic nonce, Alberte retardsox the gas fitter who dreamt he was an intelligent man (or was it the other way round) Jew-Am-I the latest gofor and full time yid (aaaahhhhhh is that why they are so averse to the swastika....in case poor jewy goes all full time victim)are all up to their usual bullying?
Well Mr Nox you must have tweaked their proverbial proboscises!

    Regards

p.s I feel compelled to concur with Paul regarding that pseudo-sociological prepubescent rant by Juamie!

How are you fairing you old pestilent fart?
taking posts out of context.....How dare you?
As for bullying you and your cronies are probably the worst bullies on the Internet at this time! You profess to a love of all things megalithic. yet you will allow only the opinions and thoughts/theories of those that agree with you and your TMA bum chums.
You have posted a profile for all to see that is completely fictitious...you lying little arse rag!
Conservator at Kyoto.....they have no....no record of a Paul wills! At a zen monastery with Gary snyder? again the most bare faced lies I have ever come across. They have no record of a Paul wills either! You are a stirring, bullying, egomaniac who's self aggrandisement is fed by a merry band of maladjusted miscreants.
No right of reply....don't make me laugh, you have been instrumental in the banning of numerous individuals from TMA. When the banning is done up pops cowardly Mr Wills for his pound of flesh! Would you like examples?

If you are truly interested in the sites and stones....then maybe ...just maybe you will stop this solipsistic nonsense and look beyond your own petty concerns. Open up to the wonder and possibilities of the world (not just of stones and sites) and share!
I know it's scary Paul but give it a go......you never know!

Can a Buddha nature have a dog?
As with all Koans, the clue is in the question.
If Gary Snyder, had paid more attention to the Blue Cliff Record, ( Decca 63) he would be aware, that the Buddha himself, kept company with a Shitzu bitch, that had a malfunctioning clitoris.
And as new translations of the Pali Canon, reveal; when the Master preached, the stones nodded, and the bitch yelped for its money back.
    Om!

No because that which is, is without that which is not, but without excluding anything.
The question and the clue are incidental.
Gary failed to realise that the bitch and the Buddha are the functioning and malfunctioning clitoris.
The pali cannon was written on toilet paper so that preachers would be prepared for the verbal diarrhea there trade entailed.

You've gotta nerve! One of the most virulent nasty little fuckwits there is, having the audacity to complain about other people saying bad things about you! If your alleged Zen practices taught you anything (and I truly doubt the authenticity of your Zen claims & for very good reasons), slaps are important from time to time. You know that surely, don't you!? Or did the first koan exercise you may have done scare you that much that you dropped out of the course? scratch

Pray (and I mean it) let's discuss your Zen practices. I'm very intrigued about the authenticity of this aspect of your persona...

    Yours - Paul
