    DARWEN TOWER Empty DARWEN TOWER

MINIATURE replicas of Darwen's most famous land-mark could soon go on sale to members of the public.

Darwen Town Council is considering putting the mini Darwen Towers, which are used as way-markers into the centre and along routes including walks up to Darwen Tower, on railings outside Darwen Post Office.

Currently they line Bolton Road and outside Darwen Leisure Centre, and the council wants to keep this continuity.

It is meeting with a supplier who makes the cast for the towers later this month.

And it has been suggested that versions of the towers could also be sold as souvenirs to the community and tourists from around the world.

Brenda Cronshaw, of Brenda's Collectables in Darwen's three-day market, has offered to help gauge public demand for the towers.

Brenda, who has been working in the market for more than 35 years, said: “At Darwen Town Council's next meeting the man who has the casts for them is going to come and talk to us.

“They are thinking they might cost approximately £35 each and I said if we make an order with this man for the railings why not find out if any of the public would like to pay for them?

“You could have them for your garden or for your desk.
