The book is now finished, I only await the printers, (produced on 'down time' at Lamberts of Settle - good people), for sale on Amazon soon.

The massif/ Landvættir of Pendle has been longing for eons inside its tenebrous bulk to find expression, and the moment this rhapsodic journey ended, it felt relieved, it assumed true meaning, its own meaning, and rejoiced.

Lots of activity in the area in the pre-Roman & Roman period

Of significance is the Roman road between Keighley and Elslack (MARGARY 721) over 9 Romano-Brithish farmsteads have been identified near to this road and a possible Romano-British 'villa' at Cross Green (west of Street Head) SD 970 475.

Many BA burial mounds in the area east of Earby & Thornton (most finds in Skipton Museum)

The most significant territorial feature in the region south of Skipton is the Long Cairn on Low Bradley Moor

To the south is Ickornshaw Moor that holds many unrecorded sites

Hope to see you all in a few weeks - john

This book is now over 600 pages in length so those at www.aussteigerpublications.com have decided to bring the tome out free of charge via the internet.

As we are now in an economic depression for the next decade to come they know this to be a wise decision.

Aussteiger Publications is produced, managed and run by Phillip Dixon and Maxine Dixon on a non profit basis in order to make John's writing available to the public.
